28ecbeab88 The K8 is one example, but there are other devices (e.g. I2C) that also have
multiple links. The way this was done in v2 was a big confusing; this way is
less so.

The changes are easy. Getting them right has been hard :-)

First, for a k8 north that has three links, you can name each one as follows:
pci0@18,0
pci1@18,0
pci2@18,0

We have to have the same pcidevfn on these because that is how the k8 works.
But the unit numbers (pci0, pci1, etc.) distinguish them.

The dts will properly generate a "v3 device code"
compatible static tree that puts the links in the right place in the
data structure.

The changes to dts are trivial.
As before, dts nodes with children are understood to be a bridge.
But what if there is a dts entry like this:
pci1@18,0 {/config/("northbridge/amd/k8/pci");};

This entry has no children in the dts.
How does dt compiler know it is a bridge? It can not know unless
we add information to the dts for that northbridge part.
To ensure that all bridge devices are detected, we support the following:
if a dts node for a device has a bridge property, e.g.:
 {
        device_operations = "k8_ops";
       bridge;
 };

The dt compiler will treat it as a bridge whether it has children or not.

Why would a device not have children? Because it might be attached to a
pci or other socket, and we don't know at build time if the socket is empty,
or what might be in the socket.

This code has been tested on dbe62 and k8 simnow, and works on each.
It is minimal in size and it does what we need. I hope it resolves our
discussion for now. We might want to improve or change the device code
later but, at this point, forward motion is important -- I'm on a deadline for
a very important demo Oct. 22!

Also included in this patch are new debug prints in k8 north.

649c9f99ff Console:
(1)we now compile in all printks, which is good: we can print any message provided we can change
the console log level at any time.
(2) The console log level is compiled in and unchangeable, which is bad, as it defeats the purpose of (1).

Add a BIOS_ALWAYS log level. Make console log level a variable. Make functions that set it and get it
visible everywhere. Always print out the version message; this is really *not* noise!

PCI: Simplify pci functions so that they can be used in stage1 or anywhere for that matter. Add
a find function which is needed for many stage1 functions. Note that we copy but also clean up
the libpayload stuff just a bit.

Get rid of config space type 2. If there was ever a platform that used it, I don't know what it was,
and the presence is a needless distraction.

tested and working on DBE62 (which means the console and the pci functions work :-).

There is a remaining problem with dumplxmsrs which nobody understands. It prints out garbage if we use the
%s for the msr names.

Formatting is an issue; if somebody wants to fix formatting they can assume I will ack it. Sorry,
my emacs has gone just nuts.

6220b632e7 Now version 3: LinuxBIOS -> coreboot rename.
- I left LB_TAG_ intact because they are used by the payloads
- file renames are still missing. see next commit

71ccb36afc Massive file rename and moving orgy:
- Everything in include/cpu/generic/x86/arch/* goes into
   include/arch/x86 now.

 - include/cpu/generic/x86/div64.h moves into include/arch/x86, too.

 - The former include/cpu/generic/x86/arch/elf.h moved to
   include/arch/x86/archelf.h, as elf.h already exists in include/
   and we must prevent a name clash.

b520f3201e Some serious changes to get qemu working with pci.
Also added comments.

A big change is in the dts. In OFW trees, the hierarchy seems to be:
/root/cpu/northbridge
          south
          other pci

note that the north is in the hierarchy under the south. This hierarchy
makes no sense on systems with a shared frontside bus, or at least I
don't see how it can. In those systems, it's easier to think about
the CPUs AND northbridges as children of the front side bus.

in LinuxBIOS, it has always been this:
/root/cpu/whatever
/root/northbridge/
                  south
                  other pci

There have been many discussions over how it ought to be, for 8 years
now, and we've always come back to how LB does it. So I have changed the
dts for qemu for now to match LB's way of doing things. Note that the
new system is flexible enough that, on K8, we CAN do things as above:
/cpu@0/amd8knorthbridge/etc.
/cpu@1/amd8knorthbridge/etc.

But on qemu, for now, the root is the mainboard, and the CPU and
northbridge are siblings.

I've added some informational printks, cleaned up pci_ops, and done
other things so that it builds and all seems to work -- until it hangs
hard in enumeration in i440bx ...

7513bfdb03 Lots of changes here, build broken, but people need to see this.
renamed the phase3 etc. to stuff like phase3_scan, so you can get a
rought idea what it is. The names mean more.

adding pci_device and, at the same time, showing how we can get rid of
the really ugly stuff that crept in. note you can specify ops in the
dts, which avoids the need for hideous stuff like this:
static void enable_dev(struct device *dev)
{
        /* Set the operations if it is a special bus type */
        if (dev->path.type == DEVICE_PATH_PCI_DOMAIN) {
                dev->ops = &pci_domain_ops;
                pci_set_method(dev);
        }
        else if (dev->path.type == DEVICE_PATH_APIC_CLUSTER) {
                dev->ops = &cpu_bus_ops;
        }
}

So that foolishness is gone.

added delay functions.

Note that we have include/lib.h, and define all the functions in there,
instead of in lots of fiddly includes.

Brought back the enable op, once I understood it; renamed it to
something that makes sense.

I'll be on a plane soon, will continue to work, but at least you can see
what's going on here.
