9485c81699 Rename CONSOLE_SERIAL_TAG to CONSOLE_PREFIX, as "prefix" is a clearer
name and the option is not only valid for the serial console.

Make CONSOLE_PREFIX an EXPERT option, as most people will not usually
change it.

Put the option under a "Cosmetic console options" subheading, as more
such options will probably follow...

4d52c1b047 Do not print the "(LB) " for the first line of LinuxBIOS output (looks
ugly because there are two \n\n before the "LinuxBIOS-3.0.0".

Some cosmetic fixeѕ (trivial).

aa01c41f42 A bunch of small cosmetic improvement of the printk() calls (trivial).
Add "(LB) " to all log messages to differentiate them visually
from the rest of the boot messages. This is similar to what
Xen does when booting (it prefixes all log messages with "(XEN) ").

446979be46 This set of changes:
- makes sprintf work, in a re-entrant way
- gets rid of a lot of ugly debug stuff (thanks for the Kconfig log
  level stuff guys!)
- boots like a bat out of hell on qemu :-)

The changes are trivial, I am self-acking.

To run this under qemu, I do this:

cp LinuxBIOSv3/build/linuxbios.rom bios.bin ;  qemu -nographic -L .
-kernel linux-2.6.15-bochs/vmlinux -hdc hda -hda hda | tee out 2>&1

here is the output from a run. Note that cpu's still don't have a path
of any kind, and that show_all_devs is not working right. But we're
getting there. I think I'll next try to really boot a linux with a hard
drive, and see how it goes.

ff7df4f7ad Add cross compilation support and simplify the far to complex serial
code (This goes hand in hand, as some parts of serial were hardcoded
to one architecture until now)

* include/uart8250.h: add TTYSx defines that are used in
  multiple places. formerly part of arch/x86/serial.c.
  Drop init_uart8250 (unused)
* lib/uart8250.c: drop arch/x86/config.h usage
  Drop init_uart8250 (unused)
* arch/powerpc/Kconfig, arch/x86/Kconfig: add CONFIG_ARCH to
  contain the directory name under LinuxBIOSv3/arch/
* arch/x86/console.c: drop some dead code. Drop hardcoded config.h values.
  use generic uart8250.h header
* arch/x86/cachemain.c: Drop hardcoded config.h values. Still use hardcoded
  ROM size for now. (To be changed later)
* arch/x86/config.h: dropped, no longer needed
* arch/x86/serial.c: factor out generically used defines to uart8250.h
* Makefile: use mainboard architecture instead of target architecture to choose
  include path.
  Read .xcompile if available (configure replacement).
  Create build.h with compile time and version.
* util/xcompile/xcompile: new file. Search for supported cross compilers
  linkers, assemblers (and potentially supported compiler flags etc)
  This is a very slick configure replacement.
* util/dtc/Makefile: fix Makefile for cross compilation

c275218a89 Add a first bit of a framework. Builds the following parts, in
accordance to the newboot document:

* reset vector (16 bytes)
* vpd (240bytes)
* boot block (8k - 256b)
* lar archive (256-8 k)

The boot block is kind of simple, still. It enables pmode, car, and
starts looking for an initram module in the lar archive.

Note: This doesnt do much at the moment,
as gas seems to produce buggy code in init.S.

Take this as a suggestion of how it might work and please provide
patches fixing it and bringing it into shape.
